The Paul Plante honourable mention is awarded to a person who over the years has brought an outstanding contribution to the advancement of fly fishing in Quebec especially in the fields of education and conservation.
This honour was instituted in 1984 and is given out annually by the « Conférie des pêcheurs à la mouche ATOS». Since 2003, the honour is awarded by the « Québec /Maritimes Fly Fishing Forum». The nominee is now selected by past recipients of the award.

The annual nomination, by a committee of members of the
Museum Board of Trustees, of a Canadian having shown over a number
of years undeniable qualities of excellence in fly tying.
The organizing committee of the Québec/Maritimes Fly Fishing Forum, an event held annually in Granby QC, each year nominates a Canadian who over the years has undeniably demonstrated excellence in the art of fly tying.
The recipient must have demonstrated a continuous contribution to the teaching of fly tying, very high quality of tying workmanship, writings on the subject, or in fostering the growth of fly tying arts among Canadians at large.
In 2007 the Québec/Maritimes Fly fishing Forum created the Québec Fly Tyers Wall of Fame in partnership with the Canadian Fly Fishing Museum located in Waterloo, QC.
The winning nominee will have a frame containing one of his or her flies. along with a photograph and a text relating the important stages of the tyer’s fly tying life installed on the Museum walls of the Canadian Fly Tyers Wall of Fame.
The winner will be announced at the fund raising banquet held on the Saturday evening of the Québec/Maritimes Fly Fishing Forum. At this time, a replica of the frame also will be presented to the winner of the Jean-Guy Côté award by the representatives of the Canadian Fly Fishing Museum and the Québec/Maritimes Fly Fishing Forum.
